Echo and Wispa - Standard Shetlands

Echo came to us in 1992 as an unbroken , little handled seven year old. She was a barren brood mare and was probably destined for the meat market in Europe. Ten months later she produced …
Wispa Surprise !
With constant, gentle handling she and her foal have become calm, trusting ponies used to giving pony rides to children at weekends and during school holidays .

Ebony and Jet – Standard Shetlands

Ebony and her three month old son Jet came in 2005 after their owner died leaving them in need of care . They are both sweet natured ponies and will hopefully be able to give rides now Jet is older.

There is a small cart for all the Shetlands to use but lack of time and volunteers to help has meant they are still untrained for this work.

Wee Dinky Doo – mini Shetland

Wee Dinky Doo or Dinky Doo  for short is a tiny, miniature Shetland pony measuring only 29 inches at the withers . She is very gentle though a little timid.  She is chestnut and white with black in her mane and tail . Dinky Doo was born in 2007

Phoenix and Mowgli – mini Shetlands

Phoenix is our oldest mini shetland and was born in June  2005 . She is a mainly white skewbald .  She had her foal Mowgli in  April 2009  when she was still only 3 . Phoenix has one blue eye and one brown whereas her son has two blue eyes . He is very stunning having a jet black coat . They are both friendly ponies and will lead and enjoy grooming and having their feet done.

Following an anxious couple of weeks the donkeys, mule and the mini shetlands are now settled in their new quarters at Bankend Stables. Our thanks go to them for saving the day!!!!
