Meredin

Meredin was named Moira Dene by her breeder, and came to us in 2000 as a gangly yearling with long legs.  She is very friendly with our Clydesdale, Sonny, who is a year younger than her but much bigger!  She has  grown into a strong cobby mare, and though has learnt to be ridden time does not allow this luxury .   Once she has learnt to be driven we hope she can assist by doing jobs such as pulling hay straw and manure from one area to another.

She is very gentle and enjoys human company.   In the summer she needs to be monitored incase she puts on too much weight as grazing is a favourite pastime!

Gwerthfawr Diamond  ( pronounced – Gwethow)

This beautiful pony is  very special as she belongs to a very rare pony species, the Eriskay.   There are only 300 breeding mares of this species in the WORLD!!!   She came to us a very wild and frisky seven month old filly who tried to use her feet and her teeth to get her own way.   Fortunately with a lot of care and gentle handling she is now a friendly happy pony who allows us to brush her and lead

Sonny

Sonny is a beautiful gelding with the lovely temperament expected from the breed . He was born in 2000 He is very friendly with all the other horses and ponies  His colour changes three times throughout the year being pale in winter ; roan in spring and dark bay in summer . He usually grazes with Meredin , Tonto and Gwerthfawr .

This gentle giant is true to the description of the breed and though big and very strong does not tend to use his strength against humans Sonny has not yet learnt to pull a cart though has learnt basic manners to allow easy handling for vet or farrier visits. He  ties up , leads in hand , enjoys being brushed and allows his  feet to be lifted and cleaned

Tonto

Tonto is a lovely looking and good natured pony   He is prone to Laminitis so we have to keep an eye on his grazing habits in the summer months so that he does not put on too much weight.  He is the Boss and only has to lay his ears back for the other horses to disappear quickly!   He is very photogenic and will pose happily for photos!

Though he rides and drives, driving is his favourite and he frequently gets excitement ‘ hiccups ‘ when his harness is brought out . Prior to coming to us he was used in competition driving and is apparently good at cone work ‘. Not having too much spare time he isn’t driven as much as we would like but we are lucky in that he is capable of going for a short drive even if he isn’t used regularly
